NOCTURNAL

Sylvia Munson and Jonathan Petersen

October 24th -December 9th, 2025, Lucky’s Books and Comics
3128 Main Street, Vancouver, BC

Opening reception: October 24th, 2025, 7-9 pm

Lucky’s Books is proud to present Nocturnal, a two-person exhibition by Sylvia Munson and Jonathan Petersen. In this series, Sylvia and Jonathan riff off each other’s work by expanding on each other’s artistic ideas. Sylvia is employing a new style here, using a darker colour palette in gouache and incorporating black pencil crayon. Jonathan’s recent work is collectively defined by fine brush work on found wood, metal, and paper. Sylvia and Jonathan share a home studio.

Sylvia Munson is a visual artist living in Victoria, British Columbia. This area of Vancouver Island
is the traditional territory of the Lekwungen people, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. Sylvia studied art at the University of Victoria for several years before
switching majors and eventually graduating with a Bachelor, and Master’s of Social Work at York University in Toronto. Her artwork has been included in group exhibitions at Gallery Gachet (Vancouver), & Pens Gallery (Los Angeles), Peanuts Gallery (Vancouver), and Weird Things (Toronto). Her current work references photographs and memories chronicling the neighborhood where she currently lives.
