Local author Jillian Lerner brought a few copies of her new book by the shop the other day, and it rules.
She’s super friendly and works at UBC. I once flunked a course at UBC and the place gives me the creeps, but that didn’t stop me from cracking open “The Peerless Prodigies of P.T. Barnum”, a collaboration she did with Marc Olivent. It’s a book about a young man desperate to meet his heroes in the big city; an experience of teen fandom that most of us can relate to.
Olivent’s slippery steampunk illustrations bring the tale to life and engage readers of all ages. Sick.
